YEAR

2024-2025

What started as a broadcast program became a three-year engagement spanning four websites, full rebrands for three ministries, original film shoots, brand guidelines, motion design, and a digital presence built to reach a new generation without losing an existing one.

The brief

In 2023, Kied Visuals was brought in to produce "Pursuing Jesus," a broadcast program for Revive Church Twin Cities — a local church in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota pastored by Mark Henry. The project was straightforward at the outset: build a show. But the more we worked with the ministry, the clearer it became that the opportunity was much larger.

Revive's digital presence — and those of its partner ministries — hadn't kept pace with where the church was heading. The existing websites were dated, the visual identities were inconsistent across the ministry network, and nothing was designed to speak to the younger demographic the church was actively trying to reach. Pastor Mark Henry's personal ministry site and the 4|12 Church sister site, based in San Jacinto, California, had the same problem.

The ask evolved into something more ambitious: rebuild the digital presence of an entire ministry network — from the ground up, across four properties — while keeping the existing congregation at the center.

The design challenge

Ministry rebrands carry a tension that most brand projects don't. Move too far visually and you alienate the people who've been there for years — the congregation, the donors, the long-time volunteers. Don't move far enough and the refresh doesn't do its job of attracting a younger audience. This wasn't just a design challenge. It was a pastoral one.

Before

  • Dated visual identity — heavy serif fonts, low contrast, no clear hierarchy

  • Stock photo-heavy with no owned photography or film content

  • Three ministry sites with completely inconsistent looks

  • No motion presence — no broadcast, no branded video content

  • Mobile experience broken across all three sites

  • No shared visual language across the ministry network

After

  • Modern, warm brand identities — fresh but never alienating

  • Original owned photography and b-roll from multiple film shoots

  • Four sites with distinct identities sharing a unified visual DNA

  • "Pursuing Jesus" broadcast program in active production

  • Fully responsive, clean Squarespace and Framer builds

  • Brand guidelines documenting the system across every touchpoint

The four-site ecosystem

Each property serves a distinct audience and geography — but they needed to feel like they belonged to the same family. We built a shared visual DNA and then expressed it differently across each site.

Revive Church

The flagship — a multi-service church in Brooklyn Park, MN with Saturday contemporary and multiple Sunday formats including a multi-ethnic service. The site needed to welcome first-time visitors while serving an active congregation with services, groups, events, and giving.

4|12 Church

The sister church in San Jacinto, California — a sister congregation sharing Revive's "Passionately Pursuing Jesus" ethos but with its own distinct community, service structure, and California geography. Needed a visual identity clearly related to Revive but independently alive.

Mark Henry Ministries

Pastor Mark Henry's personal ministry site — covering speaking, events, "Discerning Our Days," "The Man Code," Pastors Huddle, and other ministry programs. Needed to reflect Mark's personal voice and national reach while connecting back to the broader network.

Pursuing Jesus Network

A fourth site built to serve as an umbrella — a home for the broader network of like-minded ministries connected to this community. Built in Framer for its design flexibility and animation capability. The one site in the ecosystem that could speak to a national audience of ministry leaders.

The thinking

The brief that shaped every decision on this project was deceptively simple: feel fresh without feeling foreign. For a congregation where many members have attended for decades, a visual identity that signals too much departure doesn't just miss the mark aesthetically — it can feel like a betrayal of something they've invested their lives in.

So we grounded the creative in what was already true and beloved about each ministry. The "Passionately Pursuing Jesus" ethos — shared across Revive, 4|12, and Mark Henry Ministries — became the connective tissue. Everything built from there: warmer color palettes that felt modern without being cold, clean typefaces with enough character to signal intention, and photography that showed real people in real moments of community rather than polished stock imagery.

Intergenerational design

Every color and typography choice was tested against a simple question: would a 65-year-old longtime member feel seen, and would a 25-year-old first-time visitor feel welcomed? When the answer was yes to both, we moved forward.

Owned imagery from day one

Stock photography can't tell your story. We scheduled film shoots and photo sessions at each church to build a media library that belonged to the ministries — imagery that showed their actual people, spaces, and culture.

System over site

Four sites, one visual family. We built a shared design language first — then expressed it distinctly per property. The result is a network of sites that feel related without being identical.

Broadcast as brand foundation

"Pursuing Jesus" wasn't just a show — it became the creative center of gravity. The motion language developed for broadcast shaped the animation, social assets, and digital identity across the entire ecosystem.

What this delivered

4

Websites designed and built across 2 platforms

3

Full ministry rebrands with complete brand guidelines

3+

Years of ongoing partnership and production

1

Broadcast program still in active production

Intergenerational reach

A refreshed identity that welcomed younger visitors without unsettling longtime members — the design brief that is hardest to get right.

Unified network identity

Three independent ministries — Minnesota, California, national — now feel like a family. The visual DNA travels across every site and touchpoint.

Owned media library

Real photography and film — not stock. Every site now shows the actual people, spaces, and moments that make each ministry what it is.

Active broadcast presence

"Pursuing Jesus" is a living production — a broadcast program that extends the ministry's reach beyond Sunday morning and into the week.

Scalable system

Brand guidelines, reusable motion assets, and a documented visual language mean this ecosystem can grow without starting over.

Ongoing partnership

This didn't end at launch. A long-term creative relationship means the work continues to evolve alongside the ministries it serves.
